こちらは、道明の高麗組みの帯締め。
高台で組む二枚物の平組で、 江戸時代には武士の刀の下げ緒に用いられていた組み方で、金糸や銀糸の入ったものは礼装にも対応できる格調高い帯締組み方です。

Annual Kaomise Grand Kabuki Program
KOI TSUKAMI (Fight with a carp) in the matinee at Kabukiza TheatreAnnual Kaomise Grand Kabuki Program is showing at Kabukiza Theatre this month.
Kaomise is a special performance which remains the custom that the theater shows the all-star cast of the coming season in November in the Edo era (1603~1867). The yagura (tower) is set in front of Kabukiza Theatre in Kaomise month November once a year.
The casting actors are so gorgeous. Sakata Tojuro, Onoe Kikugoro, Matsumoto Koshiro, Nakamura Kichiemon and Kataoka Nizaemon, the great actors play their successful role throughout all performances. The first performance among them is KOI TSUKAMI (Fight with a carp) played by Ichikawa Somegoro.
The princess Kozakura is pleased to see her fiancé Shiganosuke after his long trip, but another Shiganosuke also appears there. The first one is the incarnation of the spirit of a carp, and then real Shiganosuke fights with the carp for the princess in the waterfall. Ichikawa Somegoro plays both Shiganosukes by himself, and so he perfectly quick changes between two roles. He disappears in the right side of the stage and comes from the left side of the stage with a completely different costume in seconds. The last scene where he sword fights in the real water makes the audience filled with excitement.
KOI TSUKAMI was performed by Somegoro in Las Vegas in 2015. The direction including the fountain with huge pond of Hotel Bellagio and projection mapping raised high acclaim. On the other hand, Somegoro learned and succeeded the acting technique of classic piece such as Benkei of KANJINCHO. He tried a variety performances as a leader of the young Kabuki actors. He will succeed the actor name, Matsumoto Koshiro X this coming January. This month is the last chance to see his performance with the name of Ichikawa Somegoro. Let’s go to see the last Somegoro at Kabukiza Theatre for rooting for his achievement with new stage name.
This coming January, Matsumoto Koshiro, Ichikawa Somegoro and Matsumoto Kintaro will hold the stage name succeeding ceremony. Their Kabuki actor family’s name is Korai-ya. It is said that Kourai-ya was named after the shop which Matsumoto Koshiro I served his apprenticeship in his younger days.
Pictured here is obijime (narrow braided sash cord) named Kourai-gumi from Domyo (a obijime shop). This is made from silk using a weighted-bobbin braiding technique known as kumihimo (braided cords) on a kodai stand. This pattern produces flat double layer called hiragumi which usually was used for samurai’s sword belts in the Edo era (1603~1867 ). It is elevated style so that we use it with gold or platinum colored threads for a formal style kimono.
An obijime is essential to pull the whole look together. It is nice to witness the first scene of Somegoro’s striving for greatness as Koshiro X, by wearing such a special obijime.
