役者さんのお家にちなんだ…といえば、歌舞伎座にもほど近い「京都一加」東銀座店で、素敵な帯留を見つけました。 銀杏の葉で鶴を象ったデザイン。
鶴が銀杏の葉をくわえているモチーフは、昼の部の「猿若江戸初櫓」の舞台装置にも使われている中村勘三郎家の替え紋。 そもそも勘三郎家の紋は、この「鶴に銀杏」だったのを、後に将軍家に鶴姫様というお姫さまが生まれたため、遠慮して現在の角切銀杏になったと言われています。 新しい歌舞伎スターの誕生を記念して、中村屋さんにちなんだ色のきものや帯留を新調し、これからずっと応援していく気持ちをあらわすのも素敵ですね。

Saruwaka-festival February Grand Kabuki at the Kabukiza Theatre I went to see the Saruwaka- festival February Grand Kabuki at the Kabukiza Theatre. This year is the 390th anniversary of the Kabuki in Edo (Tokyo of 1600s). Saruwaka Kanzaburo I, the forefather of Nakamuraya family brought Kabuki, the traditional form of Japanese drama, to this city from Kyoto. Then the first act in the matinee of this month is “The First Kabuki Performance in Edo”. Nakamura Kankuro plays the role of Saruwaka Kanzaburo and Nakamura Shichinosuke plays the role of Ijumono Okuni, historical founder of Kabuki. But the main event of this month’s Kabukiza performance is “Two Momotaros” in which Nakamura Kankuro’s two sons, Nakamura Kantaro (5 years old) and Nakamura Chozaburo (3 years old) made their debut as Kabuki actors on the stage. The little brothers’ father and grandfather also played the same role, Momotaro, in this program as their stage debut, so this play is closely connected with Nakamuraya family. In the scene, two little Momotaros appeared from the big peach(momo), the theatre was filled with warm applause and admiration. Kantaro smoothly and neatly acted like his father. On the other hand, Chozaburo sometimes seemed so sleepy on the stage, but he was able to say his lines timely and loudly. It proved that they are hopeful young Kabuki actors. The special curtain to celebrate their debut was designed by Kodue Hibino. Yellow is the color of the formal kamishimo shoulder pieces of kimono for Nakamuraya family. I enjoyed this performance with Erika Sakurazawa, a cartoonist, and she was wearing yellow kimono called “Benibana Tsumugi”, woven with casual pattern and dyed with safflower. It is a special enjoyment of Kabuki to put on something related to the Kabuki actor’s family to celebrate their name succession or the first stage. I found another Nakamuraya family crest on the obidome(obijime belt fastener) at the Kimono shop, Kyoto-Ichika in Higashi Ginza. This design is a fusion of a crane and a ginkgo leaf. It is cool to buy new Kimono or obidome related Nakamuraya family to commemorate the birth of new Kabuki stars!
